New Year

Firstly: Happy new year to all the adventurers that follow this blog! The world is in a strange place at the moment (for everyone it seems) and all I can hope for is that you managed to to get a bit of peace and quiet above all the hullabaloo that’s going on around us.

For this year, I’m not really going to make resolutions (I gave them up a while ago, bad for your health) since the world, as we have seen, likes to scupper plans of us mere mortals left and right. However, I do have plans and objectives I need to adhere to.

I’m still searching for employment, as many likely are, and that will continue, but I still want to be a writer for a living, so I have to put up with that pipe dream as well. I have four (four? Four!) writing projects I want to see done this year:

• Publication of my Sci-Fi *diatribe* The Ares Gambit,
• Completion, polishing and publication of my historical fantasy Kids/YA project Short Yarn (working title),
• Polishing and publication of an Urban Thriller I wrote in 2020, Only Bloody Money,
• Re-writing and editing of another Sci-fi epic The Jovian Counter.

I was lucky enough to get a few nice things for Christmas (thank you!) and a couple of beer vouchers (that’s a £10 note to those not in the know) the latter of which are spoken for when I ship Short Yarn to Hannah, my preferred editor for a Manuscript Assessment. I’ll bounce it to Magic Pencil, my proofing crew as well.

I suppose I could throw it at an Agent, but at the moment I want robust, specific opinions I can trust, that don’t suffer from the woolly “It’s not right for us” etc.

So those are my ambitions – for now.

I hope that as the year goes forward, things improve for us all and that all our aspirations and objectives are fruitful, and as ever thank each of you for accompanying me through the woods, to sit around our campfire and share our trials and stories.
