Nano update today: My crime thriller, Only Bloody Money, which I will describe as A Very British Nobody has now completed second draft, and it’s looking good. Thrillers are generally 80 – 100k, but this in only 77k. I could pad it out a bit more, but would rather keep it tight-on. Have fun, adventurers.

Hard re-Start
After yesterday’s prelude I thought I’d drop in a sprat of Only Bloody Money‘s first chapter. On top of this, The Covenant has been enrolled in Kindle Select, so watch out for a deal promotion soon. Here’s the snippet (350 words, should be a quick read): When Officer Mike Henley was murdered, no-one knew what …
Kybashed
Or a hybrid of key-bashed and kybosh, to mix hesitation and frustration with the act of trying use a keyboard. Yes I made it up, yes I do own a dictionary. So, got Writer’s Inertia a little bit. I’m trying to decide what project to have a poke at next, as I have three that …
Back-Forwards
Welcome to all our new adventurers, and hello to all the long-suffering campers already here! I regret although I am writing, my motivation is really suffering. I think I manged 300 words today, maybe the same every day, all week. That’s bad considering that the usual amount is 1,000 and I am capable of doing …
Filler Inner
Saw a discussion crop up on twitter as I was fiddling with my profile page there – do not worry, fellow adventurers, this blog is my primary channel as I can get more wordspace here to discuss the meanderings from my Chaises-longues! To the point of the post – a writer was asking others in …
All in the Blurb
A Blurb is not a synopsis! However, the one below is more of a condensed synopsis than anything else. The best blurbs are about 150 words long (I have mentioned this before, so apologies to the long-term followers – but hello to the new ones! We’re growing all the time! 🙂 ) and what follows …
Word Blind
Rebellion of Mars Take II is progressing well, but I’m going googly-eyed at it. Re-writing is an intense thing, because you’re trying to use what’s there on the page, as flawed as it is, trying to keep the meaning and the flavour it brings to your story, as told in your voice. And yet. You’re …
Flash Diction
No, it’s not a superhero in Spandex! This is just a a quick update to let everyone know, I am 75% through Rebellion of Mars and we’ve 32k words to refurb and it’ll be ready to go for proofing etc (1st pass). I’m also glad to report that my improvements continue – I have thinned …
Slogging It Out
Well that was gruelling. No, not a 25k run. Not a forced march over the freezing mountains. I salute you if you have done either of those things though! No, Part One of Rebellion of Mars has now gone through Second (proper) draft! I had to re-write so much of it, the ‘S’ letter on …
Plodding On
I was taught the way of progress is neither swift nor easy. Marie Curie Been hitting the keyboard hard over the last 24 hours, have pulled my now ‘leading’ project, Children of The Glyph into a better shape – I said it was finished, I didn’t say it was done! ;p I’ve got it to …
